weighted GPA

1 Article with this Tag

A **weighted GPA** is a grade point average that takes into account the difficulty of the courses a student has taken. Unlike a standard GPA, which typically assigns equal value to all classes, a weighted GPA gives extra points for honors, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or other advanced-level courses. This system rewards students for challenging themselves academically and often results in a GPA higher than the traditional 4.0 scale. Weighted GPAs are commonly used by high schools and colleges to provide a more accurate reflection of a student’s academic performance and rigor.
