**Pelvic Station**

Pelvic station is a clinical term used in obstetrics to describe the position of the baby’s head in relation to the mother’s pelvis during childbirth. It measures how far the baby’s presenting part (usually the head) has descended through the birth canal, helping healthcare providers assess the progress of labor. Pelvic station is typically indicated by numbers ranging from -5 to +5, with 0 representing the baby’s head at the level of the ischial spines, which is considered ‘engaged.’ Negative numbers indicate the head is above the spines, while positive numbers mean it has passed below them, moving closer to delivery. Understanding pelvic station is essential for monitoring labor progression and making informed decisions during delivery.
