King Jeroboam was the first ruler of the northern Kingdom of Israel after the united monarchy split. Known for leading the ten northern tribes following the division, he established his reign around the 10th century BCE. Jeroboam is often remembered for setting up alternative worship centers in Bethel and Dan, which played a significant role in shaping Israelite religious practices and politics during his time. His reign marked the beginning of a distinct northern kingdom that frequently conflicted with the southern Kingdom of Judah.
